Thank you notes….I’ve been trying to get around to doing them since New Year’s. It’s not that I dislike writing them, it’s just hard to find time just to sit and be still. There always something to be done and not a moment to spare. Even as I sit here, like many others, I have my to do list playing at the front of my brain like a movie.
If someone took the time to make, pick out, purchase and deliver a gift to you, they deserve your time and effort to sit down and hand write a thank you note. It doesn’t have to be novel, but it must be sincere. A pretty little note in the mail or left on a desk is a special little surprise to anyone. But more importantly it shows your appreciation.
The link below is a blog post I found by Nanette Saylor. She highlights the basics on writing a “well written” thank you, or for some…a refresher course. Maybe you’ve beat me to the punch and have stamped and mailed out your thank yous already. If not….ready, set- write!

I am so glad you found my post helpful, and I hope your readers will, too. Happy New Year to all! Wishing you well- Nanette
Thank YOU for taking the time to come by and visit. And yes, I think your post was perfect. I have so many treasured letters from friends that bring memories flooding back from years ago. And then the more cherished notes from loved ones who are in a better place, but are able to place me in their presence for a few moments. My five year old is starting learn to read and write. Even though social media has taken over our lives and made it a better, more efficient place in many ways- I really want her to write letters to her grandparents or the love of her life…but MUCH later in life;)
You hit the nail on the head when you said that it’s hard to find the time to sit and be still. Especially your generation of mom’s who are outside the home working, working in the home and running with your children daily. I agree it’s nice to get a note in the mail, however, with technology being what it is today, snail mail is on the way out. I love receiving email from friends, being able to answer quickly and hearing back again within 24 hours! Who would a thunk it, lol!
I will take this time now to tell you how much I appreciate your blog! You have so many interesting things to talk about and awesome ideas to share. I look forward to the “mariettamomma” everytime it shows up in my inbox.
Wishing you and yours well…
Love,
Lou Ann
